PS8 Dumbo Fall Festival Raises Money For Our Local Public School

This past Saturday afternoon was a perfect crisp autumn day for the annual PS8 Fall Family Festival. With help from the families who came out for two hours of fun, The PTA of PS8 raised over $11,000 for PS 8, Dumbo’s local elementary and MS8, its brand new middle school. This money is instrumental in helping the school maintain crucial funding that has been drastically cut by the city in recent years.

The PTA offered their thanks to the community, the generous businesses, and individuals who donated funds to make this event a success:

“With huge support from Karen and Alan Heyman of Sotheby’s and creative and delicious giveaways from so many of our local businesses, the event had a great vibe and something for everyone. DJ Kai was rocking the dance party, cookies were decorated, sand art, glittery self portraits and silhouette pictures were created, faces were painted, pony rides, bouncy castles and mini train rides were enjoyed, mac & cheese, cupcakes, ice cream, bagels, hot dogs, drinks and coffee all consumed! Everyone went home happy, full of treats, and tired. Thank you to everyone who donated by purchasing a ticket and to all of the businesses who gave so generously – it couldn’t have happened without you!

If you are interested in donating to PS8, they can always use the help! Whether your kids go there presently, plan to in the future, or you just want to support your neighborhood school, we are all building this community together. Whatever you can do to help us teach our kids with as many resources as possible, the students, teachers and parents of PS8 do appreci8 any and all efforts.
