Dock Street Dumbo Project – How Tall is it?

Above is a comparison of the Dock Street Dumbo project from a post today at Brownstoner.com. It shows that the height of the proposed building is comparable to the other Gair buildings in the neighborhood. However, a commenter from Brownstoner points out that: “These sites are pretty close to BB, but does this rendering take into account the building sites’ elevations in comparison to Brooklyn Bridge? If not, then the point that they’re trying to make (i.e. that none of these buildings are taller than Brooklyn Bridge) might be moot.” Also, at 18 stories the building is nearly the same height as 45 Main or 70 Washington, so the floor heights will be shorter.

Whether you’re for the project or against it, read more about the Dock Street Dumbo plans and controversies in past posts. Jed Walentas of Two Trees Management presented their plans in a video posted by a PS8 parent. The Brooklyn Paper released an editorial yesterday providing compelling reasons to supporting the project, and the Brooklyn Daily Eagle appears to support the project as well. On the opposition side, the Dumbo Neighborhood Association has retained Paul Graziano, a well-regarded urban planning consultant to help argue against the project. A video that makes the argument against Dock Street Dumbo is posted here:
