Free event for all. The weekend events will help you with answers on questions on the following:
How do I get a grant? Which organizations make funding available to artist? What are the advantages of a studio residency program? Which one? Who are the decision-makers in non-profit organizations? How do they decide? What are they looking for? How do I navigate the art maze of New York City? Where do I start? How do I make sense of all the resources? How do I make contacts? Do I need a website? Which digital format is best for art images? TIFF, JPEG, PSD, GIF, CMYK, DPI, PPI, RGB, PDF?! How does my application look? How is my presentation? Answers to these questions and more from the experts as well as a chance to have your portfolio or laptop presentation reviewed by art professionals.

7:00 â€“ 8:00 pm – Notes from the Practice: Panel and Q&A
The weekend kicks off with mid-career artists, who once arrived in New York City with no contacts. Each will tell their own story of how they were able to jump-start their careers, penetrate the art maze and gain visibility for their work by taking advantage of opportunities and non-profit resources.
8:00 â€“ 8:30 pm – Raffle drawing for Doctor Sessions
Artists who attend the first panel discussion, Notes from the Practice, will each receive a raffle ticket for the Doctor Session, where they will have a one-on-one opportunity to meet with an arts professional and show work samples / documentation for fifteen minutes. DAC recommends that artists bring only laptops or small portfolios for review.
