Pretty Inside, lovingly coined, “the hidden spa in DUMBO” is opening a sister hair salon this Saturday located at the current spa address, 147 Front St, Suite #216. Brooklynites are welcome to make appts for hair cuts, blow outs, highlights etc. You can make a consultation appt with a colorist/stylist starting this Saturday, September 15th. A quick check on pricing for the salon says that, “blowouts start at $65, haircuts at $100, partial highlights $200+, full highlights $300+”. Welcome and best wishes!

So we’ve read that Clinton Hill is getting a Walgreen’s on Myrtle Ave.. But there’s a new pharmacy coming to Vinegar Hill on Gold Street (near 99 Gold) called Nate’s Pharmacy. Not sure when they will open, but I saw some construction the other morning and a new sign put up (above photo). Mr. Walentas has been looking for a mom-and-pop-type pharmacy in Dumbo, but with Bridge Apothecary coming to J Condo and now Nate’s Pharmacy, does Two Trees need to keep looking for a pharmacy? Nate’s might be a bit far for residents of Dumbo south, but it’s a welcome retail store for residents of Vinegar Hill.

Meanwhile, does anyone know when Bridge Apothecary will open at its J Condo location? As of yesterday, the windows are still taped up and the ‘coming soon’ sign is still up.

We first reported the new doggy day care in May. Cheeky Dog will be located on 149 Plymouth St. According to their website, it will open sometime in August. Their sign is up and the space is being built out. (see photos below). It will be Dumbo’s second doggy day care. Dumbo Pet Care, the other doggy day care will be opening a pet supply store soon (reportedly by Labor Day).

Stewart/Stand’s (165 Front Street) stainless steel wallets have gotten a lot of press lately. First, they were featured on Thrillist, then on Wired, and finally on Gizmodo.  25 Jay Street building

When we interviewed Dumbo Pet Care (dumbopetcare.com) owner Cynthia Barnett last month, her business was already growing with the influx of residents to the area. We just learned that Dumbo Pet Care has signed a lease on a space at 25 Jay Street (in the former Dellorito’s cafe location), and will be Dumbo’s first and only full service pet food and supply store, grooming shop, and “homestyle” daycare center. They are scheduled to open in early August. The daycare and boarding will still be done in their current loft space to maintain their personalized no-cage dog/cat overnight care. There will be an opening event at the store to support the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (BarcShelter.org) to hold an adoption event (tentatively on Aug 10).

Part of the space will be a Kung Fu school at night. (more to come on that when it opens).
