The NYPD deployed Sky Watch a few weeks ago yesterday, a “mobile platform for surveillance, assessment, and response” on the corner of York Street and Bridge Street at the Farragut Homes in Brooklyn. Calls to the Precinct did not reveal more details. Speaking of crime stopping, reports of car break-ins have stopped since the suspect was caught back in September. If anyone has further details or incidents that resulted in the Sky Watch deployment, please let us know.

Not Quite a Million Trees in Dumbo

Just before the Thanksgiving weekend, more trees were planted on York street between Adams and Front Street. While the initial trees planted around Dumbo were the work done by the Dumbo Improvement District, the new ones are part of the Million Trees NYC initiative. We submitted requests earlier this year to get trees planted there (as I’m sure many others did). If you’d like to request more tree locations in Dumbo, go to their online form to request a street tree.

Choice Market to Occupy J Condo Location

As Brownstoner reported yesterday, David Kramer of Hudson Companies revealed that the J Condo retail location on the corner of York and Jay Street (just outside of the York Street, F subway station) will be occupied by Choice Market, which is a cafe in Clinton Hill Brooklyn. Choice Market is a neighborhood cafe and takeout store, which serves organic and healthy foods, has a the boho vibe of a hippie hangout in a college town, according to the NY Mag listing of its Clinton Hill location. As a neighborly community cafe and hang out location, the now empty corner of York/Jay Street has the potential to become a destination for neighbors to grab a coffee and a house baked pastry or a lunch spot for a savory salmon burger or the grilled hanger steak with chimichurri sauce.
