On October 16, 2016, experience the wonder of the Brooklyn shoreline at the only half marathon and 5K exclusively held on the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway.
The Brooklyn Greenway Half & 5K, hosted by Brooklyn Greenway Initiative and produced by NYCRUNS will take an anticipated 2,000 runners on a 13.1 mile or 5K journey along the Brooklyn waterfront from Red Hook to Greenpoint. The course offers unique and memorable views of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg Bridges — winding through Brooklyn Bridge Park and other city, state and industrial parks as well as the Brooklyn Navy Yard. On Saturday, August 27, hundreds of cyclists will ride en masse along 7.5 miles of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway at the inaugural Brooklyn Bike Rave, a glowtastic night ride with lights and music.
Brooklyn Bike Rave, hosted by Brooklyn Greenway Initiative, is New York’s first event of its kind and allows the participant to become an integrated part of the experience by bringing their own creativity and lighting up their bikes, dressing up and playing music from a synchronized playlist, while experiencing the energy of nocturnal Brooklyn at its best. Epic Ride 2015
Registration is now open for The Epic Ride, presented by Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI). The 8th annual 30-45-mile bike ride from Greenpoint to Riis Park Beach will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2016. Riders will discover unfamiliar neighborhoods, pedal through city, state and national parks, and take in spectacular bridge and city views along the Brooklyn Waterfront and Jamaica Bay Greenways.
The fundraising ride supporting Brooklyn Greenway Initiative will showcase the potential of a fully completed Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway combined with a completed Jamaica Bay Greenway, and will travel along Greenway segments old, new and soon to break ground. (more…)
Treat your tastebuds at the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative’s 12th annual summer benefit party, Brooklyn Waterfront Tastes.
The mouthwatering event will feature a carefully curated brunch menu packed with unlimited tastings from celebrated local restaurants, including samplings from borough eateries The Meatball Shop, Black Swan, Beast of Bourbon, The Hop Shop, AWOL Eatery, Brooklyn Gin, Grady’s Home Brew, Montana’s Trailhouse, MP Taverna and more vendors, many yet to be announced. Brooklyn is a city of artists and makers, and there’s no celebration of its creative spirit quite like the annual BKLYN DESIGNS fair. From modern heirloom furniture and artistic lighting to sustainable surfacing and handmade accessories, the show will feature inspiring work from emerging designers and established brands hailing from all corners of the borough.
This year, BKLYN DESIGNS will be held in the the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint, from Friday, May 6 through Sunday, May 8, and will feature a variety of activities for the aesthetically minded of all ages. Attendees can shop at the BKLYN BUYS marketplace and pop-up shops featuring modern design goods, attend workshops on textiles and 3D printing, or listen to panel discussions on a variety of subjects relating to design, architecture and technology.
