Happy Valentines Day, Dumbo! Were you getting cozy in Romantic environs of Brooklyn Bridge this weekend? Well, we’re betting some people did since our very own River Cafe was named one of the most romantic restaurants in the country by Open Table.
But, diners were not the only ones basking in the glory of Brooklyn Bridge Park. In fact, an intrepid seal spent hours catching some rays on Pier Two!
That’s not the only time Pier Two was in the news recently. On Monday, Brooklyn Bridge Park put out a call for proposals for contracting at the site. A spokesperson for the park explained that the 3.4 acre addition to Brooklyn Bridge Park will feature a large lawn and water garden.
Meanwhile, at Pier 6, contested residential towers are beginning to take shape on the waterfront.
And that’s not the only building in progress. A new plan would double the size of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, adding 5 million square feet of manufacturing and retail space to the complex.
But, residents are more interested in infrastructure repairs than they are in new projects. State and local politicians gathered in Brooklyn Heights on Friday, calling on Governor Cuomo to authorize repairs to the BQE.
The Brooklyn heights section of the BQE might not be camera ready, but other parts of the ‘nabe are in Vogue. Designer Adam Lippes brought New York Fashion Week across the river, showing his fall 2018 collection in his Brooklyn Heights home.
But that’s not the only reason Brooklyn Heights is being lauded of late. Ravi Ragbir ahs been honored with a Bishop’s Cross for his work protecting immigrants at St. Ann’s and the Holy Trinity Church.
