New York Festival of Light in Dumbo (November 6-8, 2014)

The first annual New York Festival of Light (NYFOL) will come to Dumbo Brooklyn on November 6,7,8, 2014. The NYFOL 2014 Festival features a curated collection of lighting and art installations created by local and international lighting designers and performance artists and technologists who work within the medium of light.

The NYFOL is a non-profit art group whose vision is to create and provide a unique and delightful experience for residents and tourists; enhancing NYC’s architecture through interactive, static and projected lighting installations. The experience will be free and open to all ages. If you’d like to support the organizers to make this annual NYFOL a huge success, go to their Kickstarter campaign.

  • Too bad this event was such a disaster. Hopefully the the organizers can fix it for next year, and do it again. It has so much potential.

    It was as if they were planning to have 200 attendees. I think we had over 10,000 at a time. Pearl St and Water St should have been closed to traffic. It was insane to have cars driving right through the crowds beneath the archway! There were no event staff, and the event itself was too concentrated in that small area for the large crowds.

    Not enough staffing, no public bathrooms.

    The worst was the F train entrance. I’ve never seen anything like it. Plus the traffic was made worse because it was held on nights when the Brooklyn Bridge was closed for work. Very poor planning. But, you live – you learn.
