Dumbo’s Jay Street Pop-up Beach

Jay Street Beach

The Jay Street beach with umbrellas, benches, and art is now open. The DUMBO Improvement District planned and built out the dead-end of Jay Street against the East River with the Dumbo community to create a mini ‘oasis’ where we can sit and relax.

The reclaimed wooden benches were made by local furniture craftmaker Mark Jupiter from wooden pine beams from the 185 Plymouth Street loft construction by Alloy, the real estate development company also based in Dumbo.

The site design was conceived and designed by Joanna Pertz and Kate Belski from Joanna Pertz Landscape Architecture as a pro bono project (68 Jay Street, #411, Brooklyn NY).

The plants you are native plants provided by the Greenbelt Native Plant Center.

Also thanks to the NYC DOT and the Doe Fund crew, who work to keep our streets active and beautiful.

Grab a coffee and eats from nearby Punto Bianco or Brooklyn Roasting Co and relax on the Dumbo beach.
