The Community Board 2 notified us of the Department of Transportation (DOT) has planned, weather permitting, NIGHTTIME milling (removal of the top layer of asphalt) of the following streets around Dumbo:

  • Monday, July 22:
Jay Street, from the former end of Myrtle Avenue (MetroTech) to Tillary Street
Jay Street, from Tillary Street to John Street
  • Tuesday, July 23:
Jay Street, from Tillary Street to John Street
  • Wednesday, July 24:
Jay Street, from Tillary Street to John Street
Fulton Street, from Hudson Avenue to Greene Avenue
  • Thursday, July 25:
Fulton Street, from Hudson Avenue to Greene Avenue
Old Fulton Street, from Front Street to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway
  • Friday, July 26:
Old Fulton Street, from Front Street to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway

NIGHTTIME milling is scheduled for heavily trafficked streets where work during the day would have an especially negative impact. It is noisy, intrusive and makes sleeping difficult. The forebearance of affected residents is appreciated.

Relocating vehicles before work begins speeds completion of the job. Vehicles left on any of the above streets when either milling or paving is ready to be performed will be relocated, generally within three blocks. DOT encourages owners of relocated vehicles to first walk around the neighborhood. If owners are not able to locate their vehicle, they call (718) 222-7285 to learn where it was towed.
