I’m not a religious guy, but it IS Good Friday and the first day of Passover…and DUMBO is being abused by a film company again.

I’ll post contact info for the Mayor’s Office of TV etc later.

  • Hey Fred,

I run a studio in DUMBO, as do many folks (I know of at least 15 in the neighborhood). I depend on these shoots for my livelihood, and thanks to folks calling and complaining, there’s no shooting in DUMBO. A big round of applause to those who complained for destroying my business.

  • No shooting in DUMBO? There’s an (illegal) shoot reserving parking on Main Street right now. There’s permits for three other shoots from this week still hanging on sign posts. Hey “Winkel”, how about a big round of applause to the out of state film production outfits that are destroying our neighborhood retail businesses by reserving all of the parking, not patronizing any of them, and then failing to even use the streets they’ve reserved due to poor production management?

  • I don’t think these film company even utilize any local dumbo shooting studios for their shoots.

The biggest B.S. about Winkel’s post is that the complaints have resulted in less shoots. That is hilarious- if only that was true. The city doesn’t give 2 shiits about Dumbo residents complaints.

  • EPC, Chitty & Vernon, there are currently no permits being issued for the next few months. The shoots that are occurring now are from permits already issued. You might want to consider due diligence before calling somebody a liar. Aside from parking issues, how does this affect DUMBO residents, I mean this sincerely, and not facetiously,. As for destroying local business by taking up parking, most people who shop in DUMBO do not drive here, they take public transport. The film shoots add to the liveliness of DUMBO, and all of this activity, makes it a very desirable location for “tourists” (like it or not). Tourists spend a LOT of money in DUMBO. That said, I agree 100% that the shoots take WAY WAY WAY too much parking, that usually lies fallow. I’m not looking to start a flame war, I’m genuinely interested to hear people’s gripes, so please keep answers civil.
