Film shoot/towing signs up again on Front and York for three days! A piece of HBO s*** directed by the untalented (except for publicity-getting) Spike Lee. We need to have a community board that screens these shoots. If the stuff was any good, it might make up for the inconvenience.

from the NYC film office: When productions shoot in my neighborhood, why do they take up parking spots?
Public parking spots are paid for and shared by all New Yorkers, including the production industry, which contributes $5 billion to our local economy on an annual basis and employs 100,000 New Yorkers.
MMT note: I believe this is absolute horses*** and would not stand up under any kind of an audit. I think we need to be told on what basis this mythical $5 billion figure is arrived at. It would then allow for equitable neighborhood location pricing, with the money used to support or enhance our neighborhood via the BID or other agency.

I also believe the100,000 workers number is a complete fiction. We’re probably talking 3000 workers on 33 shoots.
