The Jan Larsen’s JLA Studios space at 63 Pearl Street is being replaced by something called “Olga Maria Guanabara” less than a month after JLA closed, as we posted about in late January 2011. Jan Larsen made a lot of improvements to the space, but new construction work is being done by the new tenant. No word yet on what Olga Maria is. Anyone know what this will be?

I asked the guys working in the space last week, they said the tenant is a furniture maker. Personally disappointed, as I really want more restaurants and found the poetic language on the window paper indicative of a food-related business.
Ah well.
Thanks Neil, Interesting. I’m all for a food related business too. Will be interesting to see how the new tenant pans out..

RE new food related businesses: Sadly, Jimi’s, the little bodega opposite Bridge Fresh on Jay Street has been given the boot. Reportedly, the landlord is bringing in an Italian restaurant/pizzeria as the new client.
oh no! this was the best deli around
I agree with Josh. The best prices for soda snacks and sandwiches. Plus nice folks. Will be missed if true.
Jimi’s is not closing according to the owner. He mentioned that Alima’s Grocery next door (54 Jay Street) may be but couldn’t confirm.
