Weekend Events: Dumbo Kids Holiday Party and Brooklyn Friends School’s Winter Festival

 

1) DUMBO Kids Holiday Party @ PowerHouse Arena

Kids Readings and Santa Photo Op
When: Sunday, December 5, 4–5PM
Where: The powerHouse Arena 37 Main St, Brooklyn NY

Join illustrators John Rocco, John Bemelmans Marciano, Dan Yaccarino, and Sophie Blackall for our 4th Annual Kids Holiday Party! This year’s is sure to be more action-packed than ever, as we transform the Arena into a children’s book-filled winter wonderland. There will be a very special story time, live demos from some of our favorite children’s book illustrators, and a special appearance by a certain bearded North Pole resident. Our walls will be lined with signed limited edition prints from the artists who brought you Ivy and Bean, Moonshot, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Madeline, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Trucktown, Oswald, and more as part of the Book Maker’s Dozen exhibition.

2) Brooklyn Friends School’s Winter Festival

When: Saturday, Dec. 4, 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: 375 Pearl Street just south of the Brooklyn Marriott

Browse crafts made by 45 local vendors, sample tasty treats and check out a holiday wreath and plant sale. For children there will be a carnival, craft-making extravaganza, book fair and children’s book author readings. Proceeds from the festival go to Horizons at Brooklyn Friends School, an academic enrichment program benefiting downtown Brooklyn public school children. 375 Pearl Street just south of the Brooklyn Marriott.
