1st Thursdays DUMBO Gallery Walk (02Dec2010)

Tonight, on December 2nd, the waterfront neighborhood of DUMBO will welcome art lovers and fun seekers to First Thursday, a monthly gallery walk where gallery spaces celebrate the vivacious New York art scene that has become a cultural hallmark for this Brooklyn neighborhood. Exhibitions, interactive installations, artist talks, a panel discussion, and opening receptions at local galleries comprise this month’s First Thursday on Thursday, December 2nd from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Following the gallery walk is the American premier of Kneehigh Theatre Company’s production of The Red Shoes at St Ann’s Warehouse, and live jazz music at Superfine bar & restaurant.

This month’s highlights include: An artist talk with Otto Neals and Emmett Wigglesworth, two iconic Brooklyn artists who will be discussing their life’s work at the BAC Gallery, Brooklyn Arts Council; Opening Reception for artist Judith Nilson at Henry Gregg Gallery premiering a set of her richly-pigmented and finely-detailed paintings and drawings; “Re-enactors” at Klompching GalleryKlompching Gallery featuring a solo exhibition of contemporary photography by British artist Jim Naughten; and a panel discussion at powerHouse Arena for the children’s book Book Maker’s Dozen, featuring thirteen leading children’s book illustrators who will be presenting and discussing their work.
