Threadless Book Launch Party

The phenomenally successful T-shirt company Threadless is on tour to celebrate its 10th anniversary at Powerhouse Arena on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 2-5pm with the launch of their Threadless Book. There will be a Threadless traveling art studio housed in an Airstream trailer. More than selling graphic designed t-shirts, Threadless tells the extremely interesting story that inspired Inc. magazine to hail Threadless.com as “the most innovative small company in America.”

As Threadless Founder Jake Nickell tells us in the book, Threadless was never intended to be a business. He and business partner Jacob DeHart would post projects and challenges on forums and put up results. Then they would post ongoing competitions where people could always submit t-shirt designs, and they would print the best ones. That’s how they started their ideas. The book is an interesting read for graphic designers and entrepreneurs. It’s apparent from the artist profiles that Threadless is about the love of design and how it changed their lives.

Jake Nickell plus a handful of featured Threadless artists will be on hand signing copies. Etsy Labs will join for an afternoon of making hands-on recycled t-shirt projects as part of a special edition of Craft Night. Try your hand at reconstructing and repurposing t-shirts into necklaces, skirts, totebags, and more! Wine and beverages will be served.
