Details after the jump.

Music-Theatre Group (www.musictheatregroup.org) is thrilled to announce the inauguration of its new performing space at 10 Jay Street, in Brooklyn, with eight workshop performances of Susan Marshall & Company (susanmarshallandcompany.org) in FRAME DANCES, a brand-new performance installation created by Susan Marshall with music and video May 28 – June 1, 2008.

FRAME DANCES presents movement-based art specifically created to inhabit the confined spaces of relatively small frames. Each FRAME DANCE will be captured on video in live time, in full view, and the different perspectives will be presented side by side. Audiences become part of the work as they move freely through the space, making choices about how they view the various pieces. Composer Peter Whitehead (www.healthyarts.com/whitehead) has created a series of layered scores for this installation, which he will perform live.

FRAME DANCES is commissioned and produced by Music-Theatre Group, extending MTG’s long tradition of working with artists as they experiment in real time to develop new expressive techniques. Diane Wondisford, Music-Theatre Group’s Producing Director, says: “Susan Marshall is an artist whose work I have long-admired and it is a great privilege to work with her and Peter Whitehead on FRAME DANCES, especially as the first produced in our new workshop and performance space.”
