There’s a new Dumbo-based independent fashion boutique called Gargyle. (Actually, they’ve been in business for 4 months, but primarily online at (gargyle.com).) The husband and wife team have lived in Dumbo for a while and have opened a showroom in the 68 Jay Street building (Front Street entrance) that’s open to anyone, generally on Monday-Friday 10am-5pm at 147 Front St #212. If you’re interested in shopping for items, they suggest making an appointment or calling ahead (718-246-5813) so they will make themselves available to help you.
They stock designer men’s and women’s clothing as well as accessories in the modern-vintage-country-club style.
They also have a trunk show event tonight from 6-9pm at their showroom for Alice McCall, a designer from Australia who was a stylist for singer Natalie Imbruglia, Kelis, Destiny’s Child, Blondie, and Marianne Faithful among others, and jewelry makers Giles and Brother and Philip Crangi, whose jewelry is sold at stores such as Barney’s New York, Holt Renfrew, and high-end independent boutiques around the world.
