  • I recently moved to Dumbo from the UK and live at 70 Washington

Does anyone have recomendations for July 4th? Where is the best place to see fireworks & what time should I get down there? Is there anything organized for July 4th in the neighbourhood?

    thanks
    Martine

  • Other than driving any British we find into the river, we’re pretty casual around here. Welcome to the neighborhood. I’m sorry, which apartment do you live in?

  • Martine, A lot of people BBQ or picnic with friends on the 4th of July. You might want to bring some food and drinks down to the Brooklyn Bridge Park around sunset, and watch the fireworks over the East River.

  • You might want to reconsider walking down to the Brooklyn Bridge Park at sunset considering the crowd will be backed up all the way to your front door at 70 Washington. Its a bit like riding the subway at rush hour, only darker. Its the only time of year the Dumbowhites, I’m sorry, I meant Dumboites, get to hobnob with the Farragut neighbors. Seriously though, that concrete slab they cleared south of the Fulton Landing will be the best spot if they let people in. I’m having the River Cafe prepare a light supper in a basket so I can spread my blanket at the water’s edge.
