Brownstoner featured <a href="this 1 bedroom condo on 85 Hudson Avenue in Vinegar Hill. I walk by it often and wondered about the interior. I’m a big fan of the quiet street and relatively untouched neighborhood. But for $599,000 (816sq.ft., 1bed, 1bath, $271maint, $11 tax), you have to love the area. As some commenters said, it’s not very far from the York Street Station (F). The other benefit is that it’s close to Admiral’s Row in Brooklyn Navy Yard, as long as the row isn’t torn down to build a mega grocery store.

I really like it over there as well, specifically because the whole area feels as though it were in limbo. However, I can’t for the life of me, figure out why developers are creating the places they are over there. It’s not really near the F train, (esp not Hudson), and it’s bordered on one side by the ConEd plant(?) and the other side by public housing (I support public housing, I’m just making a point about its relation to the “luxury” condos and their value/price)
Also, I would have loved to see Admiral’s Row in its heydey, and I’m an avid supporter or preservation, but it really is beyond gone as far as I can tell. I don’t know what there is to hold onto.
Anyway, you’re right, no one is going for that price unless they love it so much they will live a decent trek from other people and amenities.
