50 Bridge Street Loft Conversion “Under Fire”

In a NY Daily News story yesterday, the owners of 58 units at 50 Bridge Street want $36 million in damages from developer Joshua Guttman for “hundreds of structural construction defects” and code violations.

Owners paid up to $1 million for apartments with 15-foot ceilings and to-die-for views of the Manhattan skyline starting in 2004. But the condo residents say the building is unstable and plagued by leaks, and has poor ventilation, paper-thin walls and low water pressure.

I asked the door person about availability, and they told me that there are two empty floors. Anyone have info on pricing or sales?

From The Developers Group description:

“Fifty-eight true loft condominiums located in D.U.M.B.O, Brooklyn. Conversion of a warehouse into spacious open loft units, complete with 10″-16″ ceiling heights with Brooklyn and NYC skyline views. All apartments have been left open with no demising walls ensuring the feeling of large open spaces flooded with natural sunlight.”

  • The 2nd and 3rd floors are not for sale yet, still getting residential zoning. Guttman keeps getting denied due to his crap work elsewhere and at 50 Bridge.

  • No one should hold their breath waiting for the first two floors to open up, given Guttman’s problems. A few owners on the upper floors have sold, however.

  • Anyone know what’s going on across the street at 53 Bridge?

  • Its built like a stack of cards – major DOB violations – Guttman has already been fined $40,000 for the offenses ( we will see if he pays – HA HA – I guess he bribes people at the DOB because he hasn’t paid his fines yet and he just keeps on building – Aren’t they EVER going to shut him down??) He keeps burnin’ & buildin’ – he is a total hypocrite liar.
Pious Orthodox my ass – if there is a Hell is is for sure going to burn in it.
So this 53 Bridge is dubious , very dubious.
I saw the night security guard Guttman hires to patrol all his properties pissing in the middle of the main floor late one night earlier on in the construction process -THAT is indicitive of how much his workers all care for the pieces of shit they are working on.( Or are they all just worried about being deported?)
Guttman’s decieving crap products – for purchase OR rental (68 Jay anyone? There are some horror stories for that property!!) show how little he thinks of the people he is ripping off. He probably thinks he is pissing all over them – and he is.
