Welcome indeed. Nothing against Brooklyn Cupcake but Dumbo get’s yet another dessert place? Also, this indoor “mall” really sucks. It’s cheaply partitioned spaces do a real diservice to the architectural character of the building they occupy. To think this is what replaced the beautifully designed Olga furniture store is sad. I never see much foot traffic in there so I can’t imagine those businesses do very well.

    So lame…

  3. York St Says:

Are you kidding me? How many more fancy cupcake-, twee cookie-, throwback candy-, french bonbon-, artisan coffee-shops can this neighborhood really support?

Governor, Bubby’s, and even Rice are gone and not coming back.

Somebody please open a restaurant already.

  4. Lon Says:

    What York St. said.

  5. Confused Says:

One Girl Cookies, Almondine, Jacque Torres, Brooklyn Icecream Factory, Dewey’s Candy, Pinkberry Yogurt, Cake and Milk and now Cupcakes.

Their cupcakes better be stellar to compete in this dessert war.

  6. Emily Says:

I am so annoyed by all these dessert places! I agree with everyone else; why not another GOOD restaurant instead? Pedro’s sucks, Superfine sucks; I wish we had a moderately priced restaurant that really delivered. It’s a shame Rice went out of business… And I’ve been to Al Mar too many times already…. I guess the people of Dumbo are stuck with mediocre food and sugar-induced comas.

agreed with everyone — really a lame dessert places that sells cupcakes?? cupcakes + pinkberry I can’t handle all this sweetness. but I guess they are catering to all the tourists that come here. there is absolutely nowhere to get food – either to sit in, take out, or deliver. where’s the food??!! rice was the only decent food option, but still not that great. I just don’t get it. maybe a decent thai place? a vegetarian friendly place? p.s. I heard some rumor that whole foods is going to open in dumbo?

  8. JBrooks Says:

why don’t we all pitch in and open something?? just a thought..

  9. AP Says:

    We need another pizza joint.

what York St. said, this is getting a little ridiculous. There’s not even a good place to grab breakfast…the bagel store is mediocre at best.

Like I said a100 years ago. You can thank LPC/NYC for the inability to put in any new restaurants here. The price and/or ability to put in exhaust/fresh air ventilation is onerous. It’s the price we pay for living in NYCs version of colonial Williamsburg. You should be thankful for asphalt parks, recycling cans, and bicycle racks in the middle of nowhere. Look forward to an Olive Garden here before anything else, they have deep pockets. Enjoy!

    First world problems.

  13. Sy Says:

It is shame for landlords don’t want to give the space for a restaurant I have been looking for a space for few years

  14. loose stool Says:

I’m sorry Sy, I’m not in the mood for a gyro.

  15. Zippy Says:

I hope the packaging will be than what’s shown in the image.

  16. cmnyc Says:

Sy, did you look into the space below 220 Water street? They may be open to better rental pricing since no one is moving in there. I agree with everyone…we need Thai food.

  17. loose stool Says:

    Thai food = organ meat

  18. Dentyourcar Says:

Learn to cook you lazy bastards.
Isn’t that why we have our fancy Viking ranges, Thermadors, Subzeros, Boschs, fancy gourmet kitchen in our condos?

  19. North Says:

Anyone know anyone at Peace Food Cafe? They would be great for the old Rice space.

I see we are in the company of tedious persons who lack self-control!!!! It is a small beautiful baking boutique in the mall and if you enter on Pearl Street(61) there’s no need to venture through the mall..I believe it is quite the addition to a versatile palate that journey’s to DUMBO!!! BTW, I am a fit woman who loves the diversity in this bakery!!!OMG@ PB&J cupcakes!!!! lol!!! It is a new and upcoming small business!! Do yourself a favor (and me too) go on FaceBook and vote for them!!!!! Good Day!!!
