Olympia Wine Bar at 54 Jay Street
February 11th, 2013
A wine bar, called Olympia Wine Bar will be opening at 54 Jay Street in Dumbo. We don’t have an opening date yet, but the interior construction looks close to completed. (Let us know if you know the open date).
In a nod to Dumbo’s history, the bar is named Olympia, which was a name given to the waterfront community east of the original ferry landing at the foot of what is now Fulton Landing in the late 1700s (ref: see prior post Dumbo, the Historic District With the Modern Name and page 8, from the Dumbo Historic District LPC designation report.)

The wine bar is being opened by the good folks at the 68 Jay Street Bar. Heard they’ll be serving cheese and possibly some other light fare. Expecting great things.

sorry but this bar looks pretty boring. Dumbo needs some more exciting night options

Not sure if there’s a full grill/kitchen due to landmark restrictions, but I’m also looking fwd to the opening. Quality burgers or sandwiches and wine; how awesome would that be!

Relax and put your peckers back in your pants. It’s going to be Glatt Kosher, including the wine.

The name could be better. Maybe like OLYM or OLY. Olympia sounds like a bar for Astoria, Queens.

Leave it to loose stool to introduce the penis into a conversation apropos of absolutely nothing. What’s with the fascination , LS? If this were a social gathering everyone would murmur something in an embarrassed way and then move away from you. Is this how your conversations run in real life?

Dear owners of Jay 68:
Please use the money you apparently have to install more tap lines at your bar. And then put decent beer on those tap lines.
Every time I come in and see only Stella and Brooklyn Lager, I wonder if you’re trying for some kind of a crappy airport bar experience. Which you’re not, right?
Thank you.

St. Ann’s across the street has amazing sandwiches and such from Hillside in Vinegar Hill. Don’t even need a ticket to get in if you’re just eating. Only open from 7pm till 8pm though. Power-hour anyone?

I don’t understand why every new place has to have burgers. Forget the burgers. This appears to be a wine bar, not a burger joint.
