A sign at the new cafe called Punto Bianco (means white spot in Italian) on 14 Jay Street (at John Street) has gone up. The coming soon sign says there will be paninis, salads, pastries, and an espresso bar. No word yet on opening day, but looks like the build out of the cafe is coming along.

Thank goodness because there certainly aren’t enough coffee & snack shops in the neighborhood and lord knows we don’t need any more full fledged restaurants with delivery service and so forth.

  2. Adam Says:

Dumbo needs more restaurants. I welcome coffee bars, but with Brooklyn Roasting Co on the same block, I’d go to Punto Blanco as another lunch option.

  3. Emery Says:

I wanted to like Brooklyn Roasting Company but the Coffee was terrible. Hopefully this place is better but yes, not really what is needed in the hood.

  4. Angeloz Says:

Maybe not exactly what the neighborhood needed, but atleast there are businesses coming. We need to get out and support all our local shops, especially if we want to see better restaurants and more variety of shops in the area. There is also a growing work/lunch crowd in dumbo, this answers that demand. If we dont support you are going to see more banks, an ikea, and even a mc donalds. Please dont let dumbo turn into court st, or montague…

I’m looking forward to Punto Bianco opening as a lunch spot, I’ve been working in Dumbo for a couple of years and I’ve exhausted just about every place to eat in the area. I hope it opens before the winter so I don’t have to walk far in the cold. =]

Thanks for the great food and conversation, it was beautiful with you
    Best regards from SWITZERLAND
