Bosch Showroom Closed on 1 Main Street
January 24th, 2011
This is a few weeks old, as we Tweeted about this before, but the Bosch Showroom in Dumbo has closed. The former high end kitchen appliance space has high ceilings and is a space that Two Trees Management would consider a restaurant, according to the leasing staff at Two Trees. The other side of the building is home to Bubby’s Restaurant, so a restaurant space in the former Bosch showroom would be a nice (much needed) food option addition in Dumbo.
What would you like to see go into the space?

I hear that! Would love a tasty Chinese or Italian place in the hood.

Would prefer not to have another restaurant there but I have an extreme conflict of interest.
It does appear to be one of the few places which have grandfathered-from-landmarks external exhaust vents.

How about an Irish pub with affordable priced meals and beers or a place like they have in Williamsburgh, Pies & Thighs, or even good Indian food.

I walk to chinatown to eat every week (it’s just a healthy 25 min walk over the bridge) – but it’s not amenable to delivery/take out. A small chinese takeout would be great, but that space is too big and nice.
I’d rather see a music bar open up with a pool table and small performance space. Not Williamsburg style though.
Affordability is key, which is why I stopped going to Rebar a long time ago. I want a place that isn’t gimmicky and isn’t expensive. A place you can go to and leave feeling good about having had fun, and go back to the next day if you feel like it because prices are good.
I know dumbo is an expensive nabe, but not everyone lives in a penthouse.

How about the carousel… Leave the ego in the building and keep the park NICE!

Thai food, please.

why would you want to eat cat? keep chinese food and frozen cats in chinatown.

I’ll probably get killed for this but I would rather have a Chipotle’s than some overpriced resturant serving medicore food (i.e. every other resturant in dumbo). Chipotle may not be authentic, but its reasonably priced. I vomit when I think about Pedro’s so called food.

There isn’t enough foot traffic during the week to sustain the typical
fast food restaurant.
Will likely become the grand DUMBO wedding hall.
