LuckyRice Night Market Video Recap

Tickets for the Night Market in Dumbo last week sold out and attracted over 2,000 people to the outdoor food festival in The Archway in Dumbo, hosted by David Chang of Momofuku Restaurant. Dumbo based Kitano Pictures, a video production company was there on our behalf to cover the event. Check out the video to get a sense of how the event went:

Was this event even legal?
I was in a rush and needed to cross through the archway, which is defined by the DOT and DID as a public commuter corridor. I was denied access by one of several private security guards because I hadn't bought a ticket ($50!). I checked with the DOT and there was no permit on record.
At sold out capacity (2000 tix) and at $50 a ticket, that's a nice $100K gross profit. I don't think it was legal for a private event to deny public access to the archway. Who gets the money?

here is the info about the event:
the money goes to non-profit partners, by donating proceeds from all LUCKYRICE Festival Events (4/29 – 5/10) to City Harvest and the Asian American Federation.
The event was sponsored by HSBC, Yelp, Zagat, Fiji Water, American Express, NY1, TimeOut, etc. –more than 60 sponsors.
