Filming: Walgreens Film Shoot

Filming on Thursday, 4/15/2010 between 3am – 9pm in Dumbo around Adams and Front Street. It looks like a Walgreens ad shoot. Walgreens became the largest drugstore operator in NYC last Friday as the company completed its $623 million buyout of Duane Reade. Walgreens said it plans to keep using the Duane Reade name. Maybe they’re filming in Brooklyn to show how they’ve branched into NYC.

WTF is that white line on Washington Street all about? Is that part of the Walgreen's shoot? Is that a permanent addition by the DOT? (They added a similar line on Washington between York and Prospect last year.) I sure hope it is not permanent, because it is as ugly as hell, and completely ruins the character of Washington Street (our nicest street, arguably) and its Belgian blocks. This neighborhood, I tell ya — takes one step fwd and 2 steps backward all the time.

On the Belgian blocks?! They're ruining the aesthetic. Plus, that two way strip of Washington St is too narrow for car traffic much less a designated bike lane. What idiots came up with this one?! can't we just sometimes leave well enough alone. Does EVERYTHING have to get “improved” all the time?!

The white stripe appears to be gone. I’d be surprised if it was put down for the Walgreen’s shot, but have no other explanation for it.

It was a strip of some kind of vinyl material, not paint, laid down to block parking for the commercial shoot.
