Thank you and Rant Emails to DumboNYC
March 2nd, 2010
We receive a few rant ‘letters’ from time to time. Some directed at us and some to neighbors. Thank you to those who send email love for the site. It’s encouraging to get these and blogging is mostly thankless work, so your emails are appreciated. This site is a labor of love and thanks to your email tips, Twitter notes, and meetings, I’ve been able to keep up some of the Dumbo news. However, I still receive hate email. I encourage criticism, but email that says “site stinks” doesn’t help me. Please know that I do my best to post relevant info on DumboNYC. Yes, I will miss some events; but if it’s important to you, remind me and let me know. Also, know that I don’t do this for a buck. All ad revenue (which isn’t much) is donated anonymously back to Dumbo-based non-profits. But again, thank you for your tips and emails. Keep them coming!
From a resident who would like to warn fellow neighbors about a dog:
“On several occasions I have walked my dog and encountered a guy walking his cream-tan colored pit bull on Hudson street. I am a dog person and this dog scares me, as well as my dog and has frequently tried to attack. Just recently he was around a corner so I couldn’t see he and his dog were approaching and said…pull your dog away so it doesn’t get hurt. I called 311 and they were no help since they said the dog had to be off the leash to be a threat…very reassuring! This post was to notify everyone in the neighborhood to be aware of the dog and the owner. I am concerned with so many new mom’s and babies in this neighborhood that someone could get hurt-very hurt. If the owner cannot control the dog it should have a muzzle on it..or not be outdoors! How would you feel if your dog or child was attacked?”
And one more we received today:
“Brooklyn Kitchens and Baths located in Park Slope has screwed over 9 people and counting in over 60,000.00 worth of goods. I know its not in DUMBO, but these customers live all over NY, including my mother a victim of this scam that resides in midtown east Manhattan. The customers are so pissed they even made a website. Here is an article about the scammer in Brooklyn Paper. There are many DUMBO residents that shop at his location and it needs to stop.”
We have no experience with them, and not passing judgement, but if you have worked with them and agree/disagree, let us know.
