Dewey’s Candy Opens in Dumbo

January 4th, 2010

As reported in early December, Dewey’s Candy leased space on Front and Pearl Streets. They are now open in the space next to Blueberi at 141 Front Street. Reader Steve Talkowski took some great photos of the space. Dewey’s has an assortment of nostolgic candy as well as your favorite sweets in the new location.

Welcome to Dumbo, Dewey’s Candy!

My 5-year old daughters went to Dewey's for the first time today, and one of them said, "I think Mr. Willy Wonka made this store for us, didn't he?" I was as starry-eyed as they were, and while my husband and I stocked up on old favorites, the girls found everything from the "largest lollypop I've EVER seen," to Hello Kitty bubble gum purses. What a treat this place is, I can't wait to go back!
  • Thanks to Dewey's the sweetest spot in DUMBO is just what we need to get us through a long, cold + snowy winter wonderland. Stock up on all your favorite candy + chocolate, download a movie + cuddle up next to your loved ones. The mini swedish fish always have a home in my candy bowl. And, if anyone out there needs a logo + identity package feel free to give me a shout. I will give free estimates if you come to the 1st meeting with a bag of dark chocolate covered almonds. ;-) Congrats Alison + Jeff for creating a warm + friendly store for all us kids to enjoy!

place looks like a lot of fun, but it needs a much better chocolate selection!
  • brooklynboy
your an idiot. dewey's has the most chocolate of any store i have ever seen.
  • Dewey's is taking requests if you're looking for something specific. If you're in the store, ask Alison or comment here on what you're looking for. By request, they're brining in new candy regularly. Today- Salt licorice, chocolate covered espresso beans, salt water taffy.

Where can we get party information (pricing, date availability, offerings, etc.) Also, when will your website be up?
  • Popped in yesterday, and the store looks great. Left with a bag of gummy sour grapefruit and a massive sugar rush...

Is this not a carbon copy of dyllan's candy store?
  • zak67
i thought that too when i was on my way to visit. After going to "dylans"many many times, which is always overcrowded, over priced and filled with tourists. then i went to Dewey's and it was nice to see a change. the store has a natural feel too it, its a lot nicer looking, its cheaper, has better candy, and it wasn't built off a designer brand empire (ralph lauren), rather a new yorker who has dreampt of having her open candy store. visit and see for your self !

I stopped in at Dewey's over the weekend. This store is truly amazing. It will make even the most jaded SOB feel like a kid again (even if he/she wouldn't admit it). Having a rough day, week, or year? Stop by Dewey's and you will be guaranteed a smile. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. Good luck Dewey!
  • Agree. I stopped by today and it's hard not to love this place. It's a great place just to browse but it takes some restraint not to buy something. Great job Alison.
