Real three bedroom apartments are difficult to come by in Dumbo. With inventory limited and more families and residents moving to Dumbo, larger apartments are either super expensive or rented out quickly if priced right. According to Streeteasy.com, there are currently 6 listings with three bedrooms in Dumbo with a median price of $8,500 (ouch!) and median size of 2,126 sqft. Let’s take a look:

Two of the listings are penthouses and three are $8,500 per month or more. Is there anything more reasonable? Here’s one at 65 Washington Street, on Craigslist; a 3bed 2 bath in 65 Washington Street (the 12 floor building built in 2000 on the corner of Front St). “The unit is on the top floor with only one other apartment on the floor. Very private and quiet. The apartment has hardwood floors throughout, high ceilings, lots of light, and has 2 balconies with a view of the Manhattan bridge.” Compared to the 6 apartment listings, seems like a deal at $4,000 per month.     Try 100 Gold across the street. Its safer and half the price - and you don't have to worry about neighbors climbing onto your terrace.

    Try living at 99 Gold!! 6000 dollar Penthouses next to the projects, really ideal for small kids and expectant mothers, and newlyweds!

    As of today:

    They just fired 3 new security guards all within the past 2 months- #1 because he got in a fight with another guard, #2 because she got an attitude with the tenants, and #3 ..MY FAVORITE! He pretended he was "checking if you were the name on the lease". He actually took the keys of all the tenants because he has access to all of them at the front desk! He broke into everyone's apartments who just left for work and stole their money..



    Other wonderful things about 99 Gold- your own neighbors jump your fences to go from one side to another in the middle of the night, they drop their shoes into your deck and peer down from your top deck and stare at you while searching for their missing dog.


    OOH!! and the time they dropped their shoe into your deck and asked if they could walk into your home to get it!!



    How about the time you're carrying a thousand bags, and the security guard is carrying on a phone conversation on his iphone while you're struggling to open the locked door because he hasn't clicked the remote!



    And the time the cops hung out for 2 hours in the lobby and management said that they were just hanging out because they needed to get out of the heat.

    Meanwhile it was because some guy that casually walked passed the amazing security system, was going door to door turning the knobs to break in to the apartments.

    I wouldn't pay any amount of money to live in that shit hole. In fact, I wouldn't live there if I were PAID to. A block from the projects, pft. Absolutely RIDICULOUS prices for the location. I hope you can move out soon!

    we will get out there as soon as we find another place! They sucker new people in that have no idea about the neighborhood, the management company, or the terrible job that the "bonded" security guards do- we heard from them that they are only paid 8 dollars an hour! No wonder they're robbing the tenants.. 99 Gold are owned by scum bags. There's no co-op board, the management and landlords could care less.

    Honestly, of course they are going to sucker you in. Everything built has a bit of suckering in for new people. Honestly, how in the World can you move into an area without doing any research. I feel no pity for you, I'm sorry, but buyer beware....are you even from New York? If so, shame on you for not seeing this coming, if not, Welcome to New York! If you are going to invest a ton of money to live somewhere and NOT do any research, who do you have to blame but yourself?

    99 Gold was an absolutely tragic mistake and never should have been built in the first place. Building a condo one block from one of the worst housing projects in the city has to be one of dumbest things Ive ever heard. If you rent, at least you can get out. Imagine all the poor dopes who actually purchased units in that snake pit. God help them.

    They are not one of the worst housing projects in the city. Maybe the only ones you have ever been near.

    Not so fast, CK. I actually lived in a project for a very long time, before lifting myself up. I know alot about the projects. Mine was fairly safe. Farragut is not safe. If you go walking around in there at night you are risking getting raped or killed. Even during the day its no picnic. Its not the worst, but certainly one of the worst.
