Filming Today: The Beaver

Filming today in Dumbo is The Beaver, a film due for release in 2011 directed by Jodie Foster (who also plays the role of Meredith Black), and stars Mel Gibson. According to the IMDB, the film is about “a guy walks around with a puppet of a beaver on his hand and treats it like a living creature.”
Filming will take place between 6am – 11pm on Washington Street between Plymouth and York Street, and on Front Street between York and Washington Street.

Ran into the cast and crew on Tuesday at BookCourt on Court Street.

Mel is officially in the house.

FYI, Front street is is coned off again today between York and Washington. There's no filming signs up however, just generic NYPD “No Parking Friday” signs. The only reason I know it's another production company is because the cones all had “Property of Willmore(?) Production Company” taped to them. Oh, and of course the towing trucks were circling the street like vultures.
