Brooklyn Arts Council Folk Arts presents its annual September 11th Memorial project, which this year features performances of original songs about the events of September 11th and its aftermath. A selection of songs submitted through an open call will be performed live for the public on the anniversary from 5–7:30pm at Powerhouse Arena, 37 Main St., Brooklyn, NY. (this is the rain location).

Much diminished from what Myoda & co. wanted to do originally, but still a nice memorial.
I’ll admit I was skeptical at first… 911 made the careers of certain artists ( some good ones, I am not criticizing — Stahl, for example )… but I like the memorial and I am glad they still do it.
100 years from now something like that could stick around even after the original meaning is lost because it is simple and nice-enough.
On the subject of public spaces…Acconci MUST do something significant and disturbing in DUMBO!!! Now!
