37 Bridge Street Update

The 37 Bridge Street condo development has been moving quickly and looks like they have done a decent job preserving the style and quality of the the renovation. The original plans called for 48 units (though we haven’t received a confirmation from the developer to confirm). The developer is Bobby Jacobs of Karnusa Equities. The architect Dedy Blaustein “Dedi” lives across from the building as Mr. Jacobs describes in the video below. The building was a former soap factory and include huge 20 foot diameter steel tanks that Mr. Blaustein felt can be preserved with a creative design. These tanks are preserved as corridors into the apartment or part of the apartment and is a feature that won’t ever be recreated in any new condo development. Technically, this building is within the boundaries of the Dumbo Historic District. Here’s the video that was produced by Social Cinema.

Recognizing the potential for an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind residence, he saved it from the wrecking ball. This film gives banks and corporate investors a tour of the property and allows them to view the renovation in progress.”

It could look very cool if they keep the existing rail lines. With the right kind of brick work the rail line could run into the bdlg’s lobby.
