As we mentioned earlier, Spike Lee is directing a commercial for Rocawear, starring Jay-Z. Below are a few pics…happening now (12:15pm) on Main Street:

Rawr never claimed (nor insinuated) to be cooler than anyone else. Rawr is simply tired of cliche Brooklyn rap hip hop yada yada yada. Clearly Rawr lives in the wrong place.

On Monday evening, there were no signs up on Water Street between Wash and Adams and therefore my car was still parked on that block on Tuesday. I didn’t know about the Jay-Z shoot until seeing it here on dumbonyc. Anyway, my car was the only one left (again, not sure when signs went up on that specific block – although I did see them everywhere else in the nabe) and it is now featured in the background of the commercial. I was told that Spike didn’t want to tow any cars for his shoot. A shout out to Spike: THANK YOU FOR NOT TOWING.

@Anon: How do you know your car is in the commercial? If Spike did say that he didn’t want any cars towed, that’s v cool.

JBrooks – I was sitting in the car this morning with the door open and a guy came by and told all of this to me. I suspect that he works for Spike’s production company. And, he said my car was “the star” of the commercial. I’m just glad it wasn’t towed. I specifically checked that block the night before and didn’t see any signs posted at 8pm. Guess I was naive in presuming that one block would be spared. He did say however that if my car was new it would have been towed. They don’t want new cars in city shoots like this – I suppose its a brand endorsement issue.
