If there's one thing that drives me crazy trying to sleep at night or early morning, it's that obnoxiously loud clicking noise that seems to come from the metal ramp next to Peas and Pickles on the corner of Washington and Front streets. It sounds like Indiana Jones is cracking a steel whip into the metal ramp. What in the world is that, and how do we silence it?

That clicking noise you hear near the Peas & Pickles ramp on Washington Street is condensation from one of the air conditioner units in the office building falling on that glass overhang. I don't think it's actually hitting the ramp. Either way, that's what it is.

Too bad about Pedros, but restaurants need to comply with the law. It's unfair for one place to offer outside seating and not apply and pay for a permit, while others follow the rules!

The "shouter" is one (or maybe 2)of the student/patients of the League Treatment Center. Going back as far as 5-7 years at least, every Thursday morning at around 10-11 the kids are taken for a supervised walk down Water Street from Washington in the direction of Main. One or several of the kids repetitivly, and rhythimically does a turretts like shout (it's called a vocal tic) over and over again. It's usually the same sound. I can set my watch to it. This should not be confused with the occasional characteristic director's shouts during film shoots that happen at other times. They are quite distinguishable.

Nice one. What is it about neighborhood blogs that bring out all the cranks and crazies???

Nothing to complain about, except maybe this weather ;-)

I used to complain about cracky and smokey on the corner, but the 84th increased presence seems to have moved him along to another spot (see link below).

You are correct, though... gotta take the good with the bad. I love living here, and for the most part my neighbors are great. Plus we have an awesome new icecream shop.
