If you haven’t followed us on Twitter yet, there’s a lot of buzz about Dumbo’s digital media companies (see @DigitalDumbo), Dumbo’s food news, and real estate news. A few tidbits in the past 24 hours:

  • Interview with @mark josephson CEO of @outsidein, hyperlocal news Gelf link (via @gelf)
  • Calling all Vans on decks; meet Tony Alva, Steve Caballero, and Steve Van Doren. Vans: Off the Wall Book Signing (Tonight at PowerHouse Arena (via @danielpower))
  • The Brooklyn Philharmonic: 1000 sqft leased at 55 Washington St. in Dumbo (broker: Brad Einhorn).
  • Finale: City Council will vote on the Dock St Dumbo rezoning application on Wed, Jun 10 at 1:30p, at City Hall.
  • Jacques Torres ice cream raised prices after a week $3 to $3.30/scoop. Still worth it. Love the blood orange froyo Menu board image link on Flickr

  • B25 Rerouted: Started on June 1 there was a change in the B25’s bus route. It no longer travels the loop through Front, Main, Water and Furman Streets because of the street reconstruction project there. It will now terminate at the foot of Old Fulton Street. (via @DUMBOBID)

    Wow the Brooklyn Philharmonic must be a small ensemble fitting in 1000 sq/ft space. Maybe it is a sign of the economic times.

    I'm with you MFM, I cannot stand it when you buy some food or a drink and it comes out as $5.05, or $1.07. Worse yet, this is typically followed by "Do you have 3 cents?". No, I don't, maybe you should change the price to $3 flat. "Taxes sir" is the usual response. You would figure the amount of effort for them to generate 97 cents in change would outweigh the 3 cents.

    The worst example of this in recent memory is when I purchased a slice of pizza at the $.99 Pizza place on E43rd...and was subsequently asked for $1.07. I did manage to talk my way out of it, but seriously folks, get with it!

    The increased price at Jacques Torres is not surprising, but the 5.05 for 2 scoops is the most ridiculous thing ever--why not just have it at $5 or even 5.25 would be more reasonable. While yes, the nickel will add up for Jacques Torres, but if you have a $5 & not the nickel (assuming tax is included) and you wanted 2 scoops, you're going to now buy one because you don't have a nickel. It's a little silly.
