The parking lot at Old Fulton and Prospect Streets will close permanently on April 30th, according to signs posted by the NYC Parks & Recreation Department. Anyone know what is replacing the parking lot?
While on the subject, the other outdoor lots in and around Dumbo are:
- 90 Washington Street (corner of Washington and Prospect Streets) – $275 per month
- 66 Sands Street (corner of Sands and Pearl Streets) – $250 per month
- 39 Front Street (at York Street) – $300 per month
Can anyone share their experiences with outdoor lots around Dumbo?

Years, and I mean, years ago there was something in the Brooklyn Bridge Park plans indicating that that lot would close and become a greensward leading to the park.
My only experience with outdoor parking was at this lot years (and several management companies) ago. Over the course of a month our car was robbed several times (nothing of value, just annoying) and the staff lost our ignition key twice, after parking the car.

That land is designated NYC parkland, as is the Washington Street lot.

I heard it’s because Squarehead and Louie Anderson are getting together for a farty throwdown.

I wonder, what are they going to do with the parking lot since they are closing it? Is it going to be turned into another park or what?

EPC is correct, it will eventually be park land, but that may change depending on the administration. It will initially be used as a storage/staging for the Brooklyn Bridge rehab project, which will begin this summer.

I was told by the Parks Department that the lot is being shut down because the proprietor is way behind on the lease payments. I was also told that a new parking lot vendor is not out of the question.
