Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz announced a “Shop Brooklyn” initiative to remind New Yorkers that much of Brooklyn’s businesses are locally owned and operated, and in order to get us through tough economic times, we as neighbors can help entrepreneurs and retail owners. Seems like every store is offering a sale or discounts, but Mr. Markowitz is helping out as well by taking action to help Brooklyn retail. The Borough President’s office launched a website, ishopbrooklyn.com, to promote the “Shop Brooklyn” initiative. A few sales we’ve heard about in Dumbo are:

  • Loopy Mango – Fall/Winter SALE. 20-70% off entire store
  • Tivoli Home – Holiday Specials. All pillow collections, including Lisbet Friis exclusives, now 35% off. Normann Copenhagen lighting, iittala serving pieces, and selected Royal Copenhagen at special prices.
  • Journey Home – 10% off gifts, 15% off furniture
  • Zoe – 40% off men’s and women’s accessories.
  • Bridge Apothecary – 5-10% off select items in store.
  • halcyon the shop – 10% off storewide for anyone who says, “Economic Crisis?.. Fuggetaboutit.”

Lots more store listings/sales in the new Google Map of Dumbo Retail businesses launched by the Dumbo Improvement District.
