it was a warm day yesterday…really not surprising that cops can’t do much to stop this. farragut and those thugs who it attracts can’t be contained unless that place is torn down

The same thing happened last weekend at 2am in the wee hours of Saturday morning. 10 shots fired. We called 911 and the police showed up at our doorstep for more information almost immediately.

There is no system for safeguarding Farragut from the residents who are not law-abiding. Even though NYCHA housing rules state that people who have committed certain crimes will be evicted. There are no guards, no cameras and the locks are routinely kicked in on the front doors. It’s not right — particularly not for the law-abiding residents at Farragut who must feel terrorized by a lot of the stuff that goes on over there.

Scary way to start the day. I stepped out of the building seconds before those shots were fired. You are right 99gold, there were many people coming and going, and no one even flinched at the sound of gunfire. I returned to the building 20 min later to police interviewing witnesses….anybody have any other info?

another shooting outside ferragut, this time at 11:30am on a sunday! at least four shots fired, 99 gold residents watching from their balconies as the gunman made his way down york street guns pointed in the air. it’s almost comical how often this happens…and yet a block away on front street people still walking their dogs like nothing’s going on.

I hear smokey works at front street now. He kneeds the pizza dough in the basement. No wonder their pizza has been tasting so much better with all the extra oregano. Green hat I haven’t seen in the neighborhood I wonder what happened to that perp. crackey I think is now a model in tribeca.

I agree that filming can be detrimental to parking problems, or say, access to a street or store when they won’t let you thru. Last week I was prevented from walking through Cadman Plaza. But overall the film industry adds jobs, and it increases tourism, which also creates jobs and needed revenue for the City.
The City issues permits for filming in specific neighborhoods. They could take a fee and then use it for specific projects in the neighborhood. Its not increasing the filiming, only getting something more for the residents who have to deal with it.
