I followed David Jones, Stylist at Salon de Quartier, what can I say about David? 2 years ago I walked in at a West Village salon with the hopes of finding a "decent hairstylist" that would cut my hair. The guy at the front desk immediately said, "he should cut your hair". I trusted him, but I got to be honest.... I was really scared.
I felt a little bit better when David introduced himself. He's got the best attitude and an amazing personality. I am very very meticulous and specific about my hair. Well, he immediately knew what I was going for. He gave me the most precise haircut Ive had in my life. I've had my hair cut by some of the best in the industry and I found the best a few blocks away. I found a great stylist and a friend. I've been lucky.

When my hair stylist, who I had been completely faithful to for fifteen years, suddenly passed away, I decided to take a leap of faith and visit Salon de Quartier, a salon a few blocks from where I live. My stylist there, David Lyle Jones, gave me a terrific cut! Exactly what I had asked for. Having straight, fine hair I am very picky about my cuts. I am so happy that I did not have to go through the trial and error of visting several stylists to find the right one for me. I am so pleased that I plan on being a regular customer going forward. Needless to say, I highly recommend David - no worries!! Just go.

The pedicure massage chair there is amazing. I have had appointments with both David and Naomi and have been pleased with both.

Just had a great experience at the very comfortable and elegant Salon de Quartier with a hair stylist named David who was courteous, professional, and friendly. The cut was beautiful (it was exactly what I wanted), and came with a free manicure. All in all it was a great way to spend a rainy Saturday morning. I'll definitely be back the next time I need my hair done!

Just had the best cut by a cut by Tommaso . So chic and cool...straight off the boat from Italy. Fabulous!!!! Highly recommended!

Took my 7 year old daughter for a haircut this past weekend and had a wonderful experience. The haircut ($40) by Noemie was most stylish and the staff treated my daughter very well. As a consequence, they now have three new customers from our family! The place is beautiful and much more funky than any salon in the area. I will definitely be returning soon for a cut of my own. It's a great addition to the neighborhood!

I went to Salon de quartier this last week. A wonderful stylist named David corrected my color that I had done at another salon and gave me the most wonderful haircut and blow dry. He was patient, professional, and his work was up there with some of the best in New York City, ( believe me, I've been to some of the best ) Thank You!

I went there on saturday and saw the same lovely french girl as the poster above. I got single process color and a cut (I have very long hair) and my total was $155. She did a beautiful job. I am thrilled with the results. Used to go to this salon when I lived in cobble hill, they have a location on smith street and another location in the city as well. They served me a mimosa to boot!

Thanks for the info. I will check them out before I need bush clippers to tame my fro. : )

My hair is longish -- well past my shoulders. I had a single process color followed by highlights. The stylist dried my hair (and made it look better than I ever could). All together it was $224 -- which is cheaper than I have paid anywhere in NYC. Also saving an hour commute was really helpful for me.

They are extremely attentive. The salon is really nice inside. It's small, but it's very nicely done. It's really worth a try.

There is a big, plush chair in the back for pedicures. It didn't look like they were quite open for business in the nair bar when I was in there, or I would have booked this too. The chair is tucked out of sight from the windows around the corner from the front desk. It feels much more spa-like than J&J Nail.

I really like this place! I hope others will try it and recommend it if they like it too.

What did you pay and how long is your hair? I'd like to see them stay too.

The stylist I see moved over from a tiny salon to Sally Hershberger last year and his rate has soared. I decided to try this place last week -- I color my hair and had waited way too long between appointments. I saw a young stylist who had just moved over from Paris. She was so nice and she did a great job. I only had color and my hair dried, but I was really happy with the results and I thought the price was reasonable. I was also pretty happy to be able to walk a few blocks between the salon and home rather than schlepping over to West 14th Street.

I hope others will try this place. I'd love to see this salon stay in the neighborhood!
