Summer Picnic in Dumbo
August 18th, 2008
Brooklyn Based, a great resource for Brooklyn food, culture, shops, and people, visits the best picnic locations around Brooklyn and suggests heading to Brooklyn Bridge Park on Plymouth St. (at Washington or Main) in Dumbo. Both the Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the adjoining Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park are great locations to set down blankets for a picnic. For food, Brooklyn Based suggests picking up gourmet food from Foragers Market (lunch menu), desserts from Jacques Torres, or panini sandwiches or salads from Dumbo General Store. They also suggest picking up a bottle of wine at Blanc & Rouge.
Other recommendations we would include are Almondine Bakery for pastries and sandwiches, ReBar for tapas and sandwiches, or a pizza from Grimaldi’s.
Food and Wine mentions (all in Dumbo Brooklyn, NY 11201):
- Foragers Market, 56 Adams Street
- Jacques Torres, 66 Water Street
- Dumbo General Store, 111 Front Street
- Blanc & Rouge, 81 Washington Street
- Almondine Bakery, 85 Water Street
- ReBar, 147 Front Street
- Grimaldi’s Pizza, 19 Old Fulton Street

What fantastic photos! Dogs or no, the parks look spiffy to me.

Very beautiful place, I know Brooklyn more from movies, as I never been there before. I just wonder why there’re few people in the photo, seemed too quiet for NY

andrew, nobody actually lives here. We get paid to stand around, pose and gripe about Brooklyn. What you don’t see in the pictures are the Jitneys, Peter Pans and Fung Wahs all lined up to take us back to the suburbs. Will somebody back me up on this?

Be sure to pick up some drugs from me at the corner of Washington and Front Streets on your way to the park. Also, look out for my partner, Smokey – he will f you up!
