Municipal Art Society Party for Preservation 7/15
July 15th, 2008
DJ duo Andrew Andrew and the Gowanus Wildcat Drill Team will be performing tonight, Tuesday, July 15, at The Municipal Art Society’s Urbanists fundraiser at the new LEED certified Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO from 8-11 pm. The event supports the MAS preservation efforts to save NYC’s historical buildings.
From MAS: Galapagos is New York’s newest and most exciting example of how preservation can go green. Many people are careful about recycling newspapers, plastic bags and bottles, but few think of the carbon footprint of throwing away entire buildings.

How was the party? Anybody got any pics of the inside of galapagos? What’s the layout?

I was there… lots of good looking people. The first floor has a bridge with four circular seating areas that float above the water… probably cant fit more than 30 people on there. Some area back by the bar. 2nd floor mezzanine surrounds the lake and offers additional seating. I also snuck upstairs and there is another huge unfinished room that might become something pretty cool.
