  1. Crackey Says:

The panhandlers and vermin from farragut should have a field day in DUMBO because of this. More people in DUMBO = more spare change to go around.

  2. basil Says:

These sorts of comments on this otherwise delightful blog is old, overdone, and shameful. Branding all New York City Housing residents as “vermin” is appalling, not to mention ignorant. Please, give it a rest.

  3. Crackey Says:

Basil if you want to hide under a rock and pretend none of these things happen then that’s your perogative. You probably don’t even live in DUMBO because you can’t afford to. But for people here this is an everyday nuisance that we all deal with. To have to deal with this kind of scum day in and day out is quite annoying.

  4. anon Says:

Cracky, so you paid a lot of money to live in Dumbo. Fine, but there’s no need to look down on others who live in our community. You’re not better than anyone because you live in a luxury condo. I agree, the panhandlers are annoying, but not everyone from Farragut are ‘vermin’.

  5. Crackey Says:

I don’t live in a “luxury” condo you dope. I live in a piece of shit apartment in vinegar hill a couple of blocks from the projects. I don’t carry an “air” about myself. I mind my own business when I walk around but from firsthand experience these people from the projects are scum. They are the derelicts of society that amount to nothing. They cause me and my neighbors unlimited amounts harm (this does not include the beggars always asking for money). You have no idea what is like so don’t question my view of these animals. If you lived a block away from farragut you would understand.

  6. Laura Says:

    I agree with Crackey.

  7. loose stool Says:

Well Laura you’re what we used to call a “bitch on wheels”. First its the ice cream trucks now its the coloreds running wild through your neighborhood. Seems to me your the one that ought to be moving to the KKKountry.

  8. loose stool Says:

Mr. Crackey, you need to stop being a sniveling little twirp and get out there and embrace life. If you walk around with your purse open and your pants around your ankles you’re gonna have trouble. I want you to walk to York and walk like John Travolta to the F train, at midnight! I mean it!

  9. Anon Says:

loosestool you must be from the projects

  10. loose stool Says:

    dear Anon
    A haiku for you

    cheeks as pink as rose
    baby wipes are gone again
    go out and get some

  11. gneumatic Says:

Crackey, you need to move back to whatever provincial midwestern/southern town or lilly white suburb you are from. Yes, there are hoodlums out there - I had a bottle broken over my head last Halloween for walking down the wrong street at 2:30 AM. But to make the leap from “there are some thugs that live there” to “all people living in the projects are criminal scum” defies logic. Yes, there is a dangerous element around Farragut and plenty of other places. But you live in Palm Beach compared to Alphabet City in the 90s, where I lived when I first moved to NYC. If you can’t take the heat, move to Westchester and quit whining. I’d much rather be part of a community that includes real, struggling, working-class people mixed with the occasional criminal than with spoiled, whining, entitled racist b**** like you.

  12. Laura Says:

    Ice cream trucks? Eh?

  13. pneumatic Says:

you are a friggin g*ddamn idiot. Go live at Rykers d!ckface. There are people that mean no harm there also but there are some thugs that will stick you when you pick up the soap. Dumb moron with idiotic logic. I hope you get a bottle shoved up your arse for that stupid post.

  14. loose stool 2 Says:

Loosestool you are g@y. Go take one up the arse.

  15. ? Says:

are you guys for real? this is really embarrassing.

  16. mod squad Says:

hey Mr. ?, Haven’t seen your list the last couple of weeks, Could it be that Dumbo has fallen off the top of the sales list? We know you are only concerned with keeping a positive image of Dumbo, but these waterfalls are nothing more than a shit shower.

  17. ? Says:

hmmm, didn’t realize that i needed to keep posting those lists, but many of you have exhibited a serious lack of intellect on this site, so perhaps some of you can’t find brownstoner with both hands.

no dumbo sales in last week’s ‘biggest sales’ column on brownstoner, you’ve got me there! however, there were 2 dumbo sales out of 5 the week before. (or maybe i’m just buying up all of these properties myself so as to keep up dumbo’s positive image…)

anyhow, you can now return to hurling sh*t and slurs at each other, the projects, ‘crackey & smokey’, the waterfalls, whatever. you guys are the most ignorant, hateful, and least appreciative people i have ever ‘encountered’. you complain about everything, so much of which you are so fortunate to live nearby. it’s really sad.

do any of you even know anything about olafur eliasson? (that’s the artist who is responsible for the waterfalls.) did you see either of his shows, which are incredible by the way, that are on right now at MoMa and PS1? are your opinions at all informed?

here’s your list, try to sound out the big words:

  18. mod squad Says:

thanks ?. I was getting a little flaccid, if you know what I mean ;).

  19. dumbonyc Says:

I can’t imagine that some of the more negative comments are indicative of the people in the neighborhood. Maybe I’m being blind, but I try to see positives. Yes, there have been message threads that were immature and pointless, but we all know blogs are anonymous so anyone can write what they want. As I’ve mentioned before, please try to comment as if you’re conversing with a neighbor in the park, in the street, or your hallway. In other words, be respectful of others. Would you ever say some of the hateful words you post here in front of someone?

If anyone has suggestions, I’m ears.
