I posted the following earlier in an older strand. The picture above is the sign I ignored…

On Saturday there were new street signs installed that change parking regulations. I’m the idiot that parked his car in front of a new “no standing anytime” sign across from 57 Front St. and had it towed on Monday morning. Not sure where else in the neighborhood changes were made but my wife called the DOT commissioner to see when the signs were changed and if we could fight the ticket. He was sympathetic and is sending us documentation stating that the signs were changed without any formal warning to fight it. He also said more changes are coming to the neighborhood so keep your head up. Was anyone else towed or incur a ticket?

I got towed on Water street this AM. I’ve been doing the alternate side of the street parking dance in DUMBO for over 10 years now without incident. So it seems a little unfair to not provide at LEAST one week of transitional WARNING ONLY tickets. Any addl. info on fighting the $200.00 BS ticket and tow would be greatly appreciated.

I was parked on Water Street, the N Side on Saturday of last week. When I parked there (Fri eve) it was - as it has been for years - No Parking Mon-Fri 8 - 6… I went for a walk Saturday and all was fine as of Saturday morning around 11 AM, when I went for a walk around. I got back around 4 PM and the car had a ticket on it. A ‘no standing any time’ sign was planted more than a block down the road (closer to Jay Street), and had obviously just been put up (without warning). Next to my car, another sign was laying on the ground!!! waiting to be installed (and was still on the ground Sunday afternoon). I took some photos and moved the car across the street to what used to be the no standing side.

No warnings… a little ridiculous considering whenever the neighborhood gets taken over by a film shoot there are posted warning signs up days in advance. I am sure the ticket is easily contested.

That said - anybody have the # for the DOT people to call to get paperwork? I saw at least 4 other tickets on cars on the same block the day I got mine.

sucks, but sorry no more free parking just like the rest of new york city.

you wont get anywhere calling commisioners or blogging about it, document and submit evidence just like everyone else does in nyc when they feel they parked legally and recevied a ticket.

No one here thinks that “blogging” is going to reverse a ticket or solve crime. People post on this site to let other people in the neighborhood know what’s going on. I don’t get why you’re so invested in this site, mikenyc, you don’t even live in this neighborhood.
