When: Saturday, March 22, 2008 (rain or shine), 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Where: Main Street entrance to Brooklyn Bridge Park and Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park
Schedule of Events
- 11:00am Egg Hunt begins.
- 11:15am Music: AudraRox.
- 11:15am Face Painting: Half Pint Citizens tent opens. Puppetry by Hijinx.
- 12:00pm Storytelling at the haystacks.
- 12:30pm Theatre: The Heights Players.
- 1:00pm Music: AudraRox.v
- Ongoing: Activities by Brooklyn Children’s Museum, the New York Transit Museum, and the Brooklyn Public Library.
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation invite kids of all ages to the 4th Annual Spring Fling Egg Hunt in Brooklyn Bridge Park (Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park and Main Street Park sections) on Saturday, March 22, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

This event needs to be re-thought from an environmental and an organizational perspective. The 15,000 plastic eggs that are not recyclable, mean offering fun to our kids at the expense of their future quality of life.
People had to wait in excessively long lines only to find that there were no eggs left for their kids because other families filled entire plastic bags to the rim with the plastic eggs.
When I said to one dad who easily had collected 30 eggs for his son that other kids hadn’t gotten any, he responded that I should relax because it was Easter. Right! What are we celebrating here exactly: waste, excess, the inability to exercise restraint?
I am not sure what the solution is. Paper eggs? People bringing their own eggs? But one thing is certain, next year, I’ll be celebrating a green Easter, and if the Dumbo Easter Egg Hunt is not substantially changed, I’ll be hunting eggs somewhere else.

anytime you rely on the government for a free handout expect a long line.
If your kid had gotten more eggs would you be wielding that environmental club so quickly?
