You had the Act of Union, which then went and instated Scottish monarchs over the UK. As for the Brits, the Welsh are the real British. They inhabited the British Isles originally, and the English have somehow adopted it to represent what is now England, Scotland and Wales. I think you’ll find that Scotland is not a part of England.
