From the NYTimes:

WAVE RISING SERIES (Friday through Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday) A highlight of the continuing festival promises to be performing by the zany and touching Yoshiko Chuma and her School of Hard Knocks company, one of 22 groups and individuals performing in the series and in a gala program on Wednesday night. (Through Nov. 4.) Friday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 4 and 7:30 p.m., John Ryan Theater, 25 Jay Street, Dumbo, Brooklyn, (212) 868-4444, whitewavedance.com; $50 for the gala; $20 for all other performances. (Dunning)

PETER DUDEK AND ELANA HERZOG Absurdist Modernism is one way to think of Peter Dudek’s abstract geometric arrangements. The forms are clean, but they’re also in constant motion as the artist adds and subtracts throughout the run of the show. Elana Herzog’s work adds a complementary impression of instability: swatches of plaid fabric stapled to the wall, then apparently ripped away, leaving shreds behind. (Ms. Herzog also has a show at LMAK projects in Chelsea.) Smack Mellon, 92 Plymouth Street, Dumbo, Brooklyn, (718) 834-8761, smackmellon.org, through Nov. 11. (Cotter)

Too bad this event is produced by the psycho who runs White Wave. Seriously, if you haven’t had a run in with her yet avoid it at all costs people!
