I moved in to Beacon in July (bought it from a flipper). So far I am pleased. The only things wrong with my unit were minor- one Cat5 data jack didnt work, and my kitchen lights didn't turn on, but otherwise I'm fairly satisfied. The garden looks neat from the gym, but I dont think I will be spending anytime in it. I don't know if roaring overhead subway trains is very fung shwei.

I agree the terra cotta pots don’t go with the Japanese “style”. It looks nice from the distance though. And as far as the elevated trains, people say they get used to the noise. This country boy will be glad to visit but not live in the big city.

Concering the roaring subway…

Communities near this bridge should pursue funding to apply panels below the train to dampen the sound. A good solution would be a case study for application on elevated trains throughout the city. This is something that could gain broad support I imagine, and would be much more economical than Boston’s solution, putting them undrground. I also imagine developers might get behind an initiative like this as well.

Remind me why I’d be interested in a landscape design or designer who plopped Italian terracotta into a Japanese “style” landscape. So many other options. Somebody was really lazy or really cheap.

I feel really badly for the owners in this building. Today, after a lot time spent on Curbed and Brownstoner, I know enough to avoid Boymelgreen like the plague, but I didn’t know anything when I bought into the J over a year ago. I could have just as easily bought in the Beacon only I liked the floorplans in the J better. We really lucked out with the developers at the J, everything has been quite beautifully done–and done on time. Not even I expected that.

It’s amazing they finally got around to sort of finishing this garden. I own in the building and the developers have done a horrible job… the air is broken, the countertop stone is defective and heaps of other issues. It would be okay if they fixed things correctly. They do try, but apparently can’t get it right. Maybe they should have done things correctly the first time…
