Dumbo NYC

Notes from the DUMBO, Brooklyn NY neighborhood

The 70 Washington street level windows (on Front Street) were covered with Post-It notes yesterday morning (6,272 of them). This is part of the art collaborative by Illegal Art, and is an interactive public art that encourages passersby, who are “free to write down their own “to do” lists and add to the collective consciousness of personal promises, social commitments and the yet to be done.” If you haven’t done so already, check out some of the to-do’s and share your own private lists and thoughts. From the TO DO statement:

“TO DO” is a project by the New York based public art collaborative, Illegal Art. Feel free to write your own “to do” list on a Post-it®. Please do not remove any Post-its®. We will be documenting the project as the week continues and installing new Post-its® as the space fills.

Thanks to Natasha Chetiyawardana, of novaclutch.typepad.com blog for the info. Also, neighbor epc has a nice set of photos including these:

I love this piece and think it’s great. My friends are all jealous of all the fun things that happen in DUMBO. My husband and I added our “to dos” on a post-it.
