Believe it or not, some people actually Choose to live in Brooklyn. I lived in Manhattan for year's and decided to make the switch to Brooklyn because I love the vibe and wanted a change... and I have no desire to move back. As for the price tag of a rental in dumbo... I wouldn't pay $4000 for anything I don't own... even in Manhattan, but that's just me.
